Tottenham Hotspur are close to completing a double deal for Southampton pair Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez, according to the Press Association.

Both players have been linked with Spurs this summer but it now appears a formality that both will link up with former boss, Mauricio Pochettino, at White Hart Lane this season.

French international Schneiderlin, 24, has recently returned to the south coast after featuring for Les Bleus during the World Cup in Brazil.

The former Strasbourg midfielder joined the Saints in 2008 for a fee in the region of £1m and has since established himself as a key component in the centre of midfield.

Born in Zellwiller, Schneiderlin has made 231 appearances for Southampton, scoring ten goals.

Schneiderlin made his France debut in the 8-0 thrashing of Jamica prior to the World Cup and featured once for Didier Deschamps' side in Brazil - against Ecuador in the final round of group matches.

A deep-lying playmaker with a good range of passing, Schneiderlin has attracted much interest from Premier League clubs this summer, with Liverpool among those thought to have been in the running for his signature until recently.

The 2012/13 campaign was the Frenchman's best in front of goal, scoring five times in the league.

Winger-cum-forward Rodriguez, 24, also made his international debut last season and had been expected to be included in Roy Hodgson's initial 30-man squad ahead of the World Cup before disaster struck.

A knee injury suffered against Manchester City in April ended the former Burnley forward's season but not before a run of five goals in just four games in the spring.

Signed from the Clarets for £6m in 2013, Rodriguez hit six goals in his first season at St Mary's and built on that figure last term, netting 15 times in 30 Premier League starts.

Pacey and direct, the Burnley-born frontman can play wide on the left or through the middle as a conventional striker.

Twenty-nine goals in two seasons at Burnley had been enough to tempt former Southampton boss Nigel Adkins to bring the six footer to the club for a hefty price tag.

Schneiderlin and Rodriguez will become Pochettino's third and fourth additions of the summer following the capture of Swansea City pair Ben Davies and Michel Vorm.
