Hogwarts is causing headaches

By Caron Kemp »

It seems Hogwarts is causing headaches for one Haringey bookshop.

Since the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was released in 1997 the series has collectively sold more than 325 million copies, crowning its author the wealthiest writer in literary history.

But the seventh and final instalment of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter is creating quite a storm, and it isn’t a magic trick.

The Deathly Hallows might have already secured more pre-publication orders than any other book in history, but local booksellers are unlikely to reap any reward.

Harry might’ve mesmerised millions of fans worldwide but Tim Robinson, manager of the Muswell Hill Bookshop, will be glad to see the back of him.

With a £17.99 official price tag, and bidding wars rife, The Muswell Hill Bookshop has been forced to offer its customers a knock-down figure of £12.99 in an effort to keep up with the Joneses (or perhaps that should be wizards). It will only be buying in a few copies of the book though to avoid making an all-out loss so you’d better hurry down on July 21 if you want to get your hands on one.

And if that still seems a bit steep even for the die-hard fans, fear not. Apparently one computer wizard, who didn’t make it to Hogwarts to learn his craft, claims to have hacked into the Bloomsbury computer system and found out the ending. So if you can find this man, track him down, offer him a fiver and save yourself the bother.
