A street patrol in Wood Green gave one police officer slightly more than he bargained for.
It was a heartwarming case of puppy love for PC Chris McCulloch from Woodside Safer Neighbourhoods Team on November 23 last year.
He was walking down the street with a colleague when he noticed a man and woman having an argument . Dean Salisbury, 21, from Wood Green, threw one dog to the ground with "considerable force". He
then ran after his other dog who tried to run away.
Salisbury was arrested for animal cruelty and will be sentenced on Friday but the officer took quite a shine to the pups and has been visiting them in kennels regularly since the incident.
He even had the dogs' care signed over to him for a period of time and recently helped to find the two puppies a new home.
In this dog-eat-dog world it's nice to find someone willing to give their time and energy to help others like this.
Let's hope the puppies are happy and healthy and putting this horrible incident behind them. You could say we want to let sleeping dogs lie... mmm.
