Rest in Mediterranean peace

For all the talk of crime, inequality and poverty it is official. Wood Green is actually a great place to live. When you're dead.

Wood Green Cemetery in Wolves Lane has been crowned the best in the country (3.5 acres and below). Plus as if that wasn't enough it scooped the top prize for innovation.

Sponsored by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICCM), Welters Organisation Worldwide, The National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) and Manuscripti, judges apparently described the 11 year old cemetery as "a taste of the Mediterranean in north London".

Can someone perhaps explain to me how on earth (or in earth) a cemetery can be described in this way?

When I think of the Med I think of a warm climate, pasta and pizza, beautiful coastlines, olive groves, nice wines and buzzing cafes.

Highlights at the grounds in Wood Green include a flood prevention system, a new cremation area and a burial village.

But all this doesn't come cheap. A plot can cost up to £3,200.

I guess it's good to know that however much you suffer living in Wood Green with poor housing conditions, run-down shops and persistent crime you can rest assured that eventually you can rest in Mediterranean peace.
