Reporter Elizabeth Pears offers a behind-the-scenes perspective on the week's news |
8:32am Tuesday 17th July 2007
I'm thinking of becoming a waitress in a pizza restaurant.
I like pizza, and I guess I don't mind waiting tables. It's a bit of a shame to throw away all the journalism training and experience, but sometimes you have to do these things for a greater
good.
See one lucky girl in Indiana, America was going about her business at the local Pizza Hut when she was given a cheque for the dollar equivalent of nearly £5,000. Not bad for a day's work really is
it?
The money was given to her anonymously by customers to help pay for her college education.
Ironically though, apparently the 20-year-old wants to pursue a career in journalism.
I'm thinking of seeing if she wants to do a straight swap. I hear there are some very generous people in Indiana...
Haringey Independent's reporter Elizabeth Pears offers in-depth analysis and an occasional light-hearted look at the week's news
