So once again A Level results day is upon us with pupils nervously waiting to pick up their envelope, find out their grades and see if they got into the university they want.
And like every year the now age old argument rises to the surface that the exams are getting easier. It's funny because I remember that argument being bounced around when I did my exams seven years
ago, and I am patently aware it was being used many years before that.
If "the critics" are right you'd be forgiven for thinking that this years A Levels could be done by a toddler.
Come on, give these poor students a break. The pressures to get into the right university, pepper your CV with numerous extra-curricular accolades, and prove yourself are greater than ever.
With more pupils than ever going to University and getting a degree, being mediocre isn't good enough any more. So why burst the bubble of these people who have worked tirelessly for two years to try
and better themselves and give themselves the best possible start to their future career?
I say well done to everyone receiving A Level results today. If you do well you should be extremely proud, and if you don't achieve what you hoped then seek advice and realise that there are options
available to you.
And importantly, don't listen to anyone who claims the exams are getting easier. After they've sat in a room and taken the tests themselves they can pass judgement. Although I wonder if then they
would...
