Well done us!

It is pat-on-the-back time for the Haringey Independent.

After six months of existence, following the merge of the Muswell Hill and Crouch End Times and the Tottenham and Wood Green Independent, we have become award winners.

At the Newsquest North London awards/ Christmas party on Friday we were named Newspaper of the Year.

It has been an interesting year for this paper's presence in the borough and it was a bold move to change to the new title and new look. But as ever it was a challenge we were all ready for and it is great to be recognised for all we've achieved.

Establishing ourselves in an area already providing local news to the residents was always going to be difficult but we have created our own identity and it is something we are very proud of.

There is still so much more we want to do; more blogging, continued daily web news, videos, more localised what's on listings and much much more.

So continue to read and engage with our award-winning paper as we think this is the start of even greater things to come.
