The Alice Nursery offers excellent purpose-designed facilities for girls aged 3-4 years. The newly developed nursery building features a spacious open-plan main room with specialist provision for different aspects of the curriculum – including a cosy traditional reading corner, a role-play area and facilities for creative and practical activities. In addition the girls have access to modern child-friendly computer and technology equipment as well as a fully equipped outdoor play area.
Each individual pupil is nurtured and encouraged to develop independence, imagination and an enquiring mind. However, children do not all develop and learn at the same rate and so each girl is treated as an individual to enable them to fulfill their potential.
The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum – the document published by the DFES, which sets out goals for learning for children to achieve by the end of their reception year. The Alice Nursery operates a 'key worker' system. This means that a member of staff has a group of girls for whom they are particularly responsible to ensure continuity of care and help her settle into the nursery quickly and smoothly.
