THE Other Side Comedy Club accommodates two headline acts on Sunday, usually to be spotted in their own touring shows.

"Only the reputation and quality of The Other Side among the comedy circuit has enabled us to book Mark Watson and Steve Day for this intimate date in York, " says promoter Toby Clouston-Jones.

"Mark Watson is the finest comedian of his generation.

Winner of more comedy awards round the world than is healthy for one man, he's written a bestselling novel that's now in film development, and appeared on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, Time Trumpet and The Ultimate Movie Chart.

"Oh, and he holds the world record for the longest stand-up show at 36 hours!"

Apparently Watson plays The Other Side for no other reason than he loves the gig and rates the York audience as "one of the best in the world".

Steve Day is Britain's and maybe the world's only deaf stand-up comedian. Having started his comedy career as a writer on BBC Radio 2's The News Huddlines, he now tours the globe with his solo shows and is a regular contributor to Radio 4's comedy and current affairs programmes.

Master of ceremonies Markus Birdman attempts once again to hold the show together, from 8pm in the Basement Bar of City Screen, York. Doors open at 7.30pm; tickets £8, concessions £7, on 0870 758 3219.
