SUPPORTERS of Amersham Museum have just had a £10,000 boost towards an ambitious project for the building.

The museum now only needs £15,000 to reach its £95,000 target and is appealing to businesses or anyone who would like to make a donation to make their Christmas dream come true.

Friends of Amersham Museum have just raised £10,000 to add to £70,000 granted by the heritage lottery fund and £1,000 from Chiltern District Council.

The donations will help to finance plans to create extra space for exhibits, build a shop front on the High Street to help promote the museum and an area for the curator work.

A new extension plan, drawn up by architect Bill Mullins, has been on display at Market Hall in Amersham Old Town.

Anthony del Tufo, chairman of the museum, in the High Street, Old Amersham, said: "I am delighted with the £10,000 from the friends.

"Their generosity and interest is greatly appreciated."

He added: "We need £95,000 for the project and now we are only £15,000 short of the target.

"We are hoping to get building work carried out in the New Year so it would be nice to get an early Christmas present to make up the funds."

The Friends of Amersham Museum help the museum by raising money through membership subscriptions, donations and fund raising money events.
