BARNOLDSWICK'S first ever Pendle Council-organised firework display promises to be an extra-special spectacular.

The event will be held on Sunday, November 5, and the chairman of the organising committee, Coun David Whipp, promises it will be the finest of its type in the north of England.

He said: "The fireworks will be fantastic and there'll be much more besides. Live music, children's entertainment and an international eight-strong troupe of fire-show performers will add to the fun, with spectators knowing the display is held in a safe and secure setting."

He added: "We'll be running a free park and ride service to get people to the event from local car parks and selling advance "queue buster" tickets with a pound off the entrance price."

The event will be held in Victory Park and festivities begin at 4pm. The main display, by locally-based international company, Classic Fireworks, will start at 6.40pm.

It will be followed by live music until 7.30pm and there will also be a chance for spectators to win a hot air balloon flight in a free prize draw.

Advance tickets costing from £3 go on sale next week at Pendle Council offices and leisure centres. The "queue busting" tickets are also available by phone on 01282 661655 or 661234.

Financial support for the event has come from West Craven Together and Barnoldswick Town Council.
