Congratulations to the borough council on taking seriously proposals to pedestrianise Lymm village centre and giving the people of the borough the chance to comment.
It is perhaps unfortunate that the proposals coincide with the troublesome works in the village centre that have greatly exaggerated the disruption.
Even with the disorganised nature and tardy completion of the works, the inconvenience and delays to traffic have been minimal and almost entirely due to the prolonged closure of parts of Eagle Brow, Brookfield Road and Bridgewater Street.
I know that some shopkeepers have expressed concern about the impact on business, but I am sure their worries are misplaced. The access to car parks will remain as it used to be - in fact there may be opportunities for extra on street parking. I cannot believe there is much passing trade since there are double yellow lines throughout the village.
I am sure that residents will visit the village to shop more and find it a more enjoyable experience and this, together with increased visitor numbers, will more than compensate for passing trade.
I trust every resident will use their opportunity to have their say by returning their form to the council whatever their view.
