THE debate about closure of Wribbenhall First School in Shaw Hedge Road continues apace.

After several meet the people' events at which the overwhelming majority expressed views against moving the school to Stourport Road, Bewdley, I hope that the cabinet at its meeting on November 30 will now throw out the proposal.

The idea that small children will have to walk or be taken by car from the Queensway/Meadow Rise area across main roads to a proposed school where the traffic is already heavily congested, is not viable.

Also the closure of Wribbenhall First would deprive local residents, parents and children of a vital educational facility already on their doorstep.

There could be sufficient space for a children's centre on the current site at Shaw Hedge Road and with some partnership, working and imagination, a playing field could be provided as well. The community centre, the school, the skateboard park and games area are an integral facility for residents. Let common sense prevail.
