YOUNGSTERS who showed they care for their community won the opportunity to travel in style.

For the past year, children from North Ormesby and St Alphonsus RC primary schools, in Middlesbrough, have been working on a project raising awareness of environmental issues and anti-social behaviour as part of the Government's Respect agenda.

They teamed up with Rob Brown, of Middlesbrough Council's anti-social behaviour unit, and tenancy support officer Andrew Shippey on the Pride in the Community - North Ormesby Schools Project.

It saw them doing neighbourhood walkabouts and inspections, pinpointing problems with fly-tipping, graffiti and other environmental problems.

Yestersay, seven children from each school got their reward when they were taken in a stretch limo to Hollywood Bowl, at Teesside Park, for free games of ten-pin bowling.
