PLAYING in very windy conditions, a change of formation for Falmouth Rangers led to their first win of the season when they took on Ludgvan.
Falmouth, with the wind in their backs in the first half, took the lead when a through ball by Ruth Barnicoat ran on to Francis Lowry, who shot well past the visiting 'keeper. Falmouth would have gone into the interval with a good lead if it were not for the Ludgvan 'keeper who pulled off several fine saves.
At the interval, Barnicoat had to be replaced due to injury and Lowry was replaced by Josh Sharp. With the wind now in their faces, the defence of Sam, James Westall and Emily Toy remained sound and did well to feed their midfield. Joe Snowden doubled Falmouth's lead and Sharp made it 3-0 soon after Sharp was again on target after good work by Max Harris in midfield.
Lowry then replaced Snowdon and capped a fine win with Falmouth's fifth. Whilst goals win games, Jack Wallis the Falmouth 'keeper pulled off a tremendous save in the dying seconds of the game, when he turned a powerful shot onto his post to keep a clean sheet.
