A £15,000 defibrillator and patients' details have been stolen from a medical professional's car.

The expensive piece of medical equipment along with other belongings were grabbed by thieves from the silver Land Rover Freelander on Tuesday last week.

Thieves smashed their way into the vehicle, which was fparked in Boundary Road, Wooburn Green, and stole the Implantable Cardio Veter, also known as a defibrillator, a Dell laptop containing patients' details and a Pilot personal organiser, valued at £150.

Inspector Andy Kitchen, from Marlow Police Station, it is a very important piece of equipment and that it could be dangerous.

He said: "The medical device is used in resuscitation and it cannot do harm to the thief, unless it is taken apart. If it is taken apart 800 volts will give them a sharp shock."

The theft took place in the early hours of the morning and the offenders smashed the front nearside windows to get into the car. The laptop, valued at £2,000, contained information used in hospitals that helps with patients' treatment.

Kate Spark, police spokesman, said the laptop did contain 'patient' details for use in medical treatments but it did not contain 'personal' details.

Pound House Surgery, on The Green, Wooburn Green and the Hawthornden surgery, in Wharf Lane, Bourne End said they had not heard about the incident.

The Primary Care Group that provides doctors for the area had also not heard about the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the theft or knows anything about the whereabouts of the stolen property should contact Marlow Police Station on 01494 465888.
