DRINK driver Mitchell Hyde faces losing his job after being banned from driving.

Hyde, 22, of Bolter End Lane, Lane End, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol, on December 13, at Wycombe Magistrates Court last Tuesday.

Rosemary Lake, prosecuting, said Hyde was caught out when police spotted his Volvo 480 car in Daws Hill Lane, High Wycombe.

She said: "Officers spoke to the driver [Hyde] who gave his name. Whilst the officer was speaking to him, she could smell alcohol on his breath.

"The man said he had one glass of wine. A road-side breath test was positive."

Hyde was taken to a police station and toxicology tests revealed he had 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal drink-drive limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates had received a letter from Hyde's employer, an administration group, suggesting he would be dismissed if he lost his licence, the court heard.

Hyde said in mitigation that he would lose his job because he would not be able to commute to company warehouses in Chinnor and Thame, and was looking for alternative work.

He added: "It was my own stupid fault that it happened. I deeply regret it."

Hyde was disqualified for 12 months and ordered to pay a £100 fine and £55 costs. He agreed to go on a drink-drive rehabilitation course to reduce his sentence by three months.
