CHRIS Vinnicombe, Sam Parkin, Niall Thompson and Michael Simpson are all added to manager Lawrie Sanchez's squad to face Wigan away tomorrow.

Vinnicombe has recovered from his ankle ligament injury and will replace Ben Townsend, who did so well deputising for him at Millwall, providing he shows no adverse reaction.

His return could not be better timed. He will be up against Wigan's on-loan Blackburn winger Keith Gillespie, who after spells with Manchester United and Newcastle, will be out to impress scouts from two Spanish clubs watching tomorrow.

On-loan Chelsea striker Parkin, who was cup-tied for the Millwall game, will return up front to partner top scorer Andy Rammell who is stuck in the middle of a six-game goal drought.

Thompson is also among the travelling party. The Canadian international striker has made a rapid recovery from the gashed shin he sustained opening his account in the LDV match against Exeter.

Midfielder Michael Simpson also comes back after serving his one match suspension.

Wanderers have worked all week on crossing and finishing in a bid to boost their measly total of four away league goals this season.

Wigan are similarly low-scoring. They have only scored 14 at home but are undefeated at the JJB with eight wins and a draw.

Sanchez is looking for Jermaine McSporran to rediscover the form that brought him 11 goals last season and the attention of the big clubs.

Sanchez said: "Jocky needs to liven himself up. A lot of people know about him after last season and he needs to frighten teams with his goals. He hasn't played as well this season, it's time for him to deliver.

"His job is to score and create goals and he's only scored three this season."

And the boss is backing Rammell to get back on the goal path.

He said: "He will score goals I've got no worries about that. He hasn't had much service recently and we've been working to try and put that right."

Sanchez reckons just one goal could be enough to settle the scrap between the division's low-scoring sides.

Sanchez added: "We generally play well up there but we never come back with anything. This time we've got to make sure it's not a wasted journey."

Wigan are without suspended striker Lee Ashcroft but Simon Haworth may return after completing 90 minutes in the reserves after a hamstring injury.
