A DRUNKEN man who had just had his jaw broken in three places shouted at police for not arresting the culprits and ended up being arrested himself, a court heard.

Magistrates at High Wycombe took pity on 23-year-old Tyrone Appleby when he pleaded guilty to using threatening words against the officers.

The court heard on Friday how Appleby had drunk so much alcohol that he did not realise that his jaw had been smashed into pieces and when police told him to go to hospital he slurred a mouthful of drunken abuse.

Balbir Seyan, prosecuting, said Appleby, of Lingfield Close, High Wycombe, was arrested after abusing the officers and then a police inspector at High Wycombe Police Station, on December 23.

But Appleby, representing himself, admitted becoming so drunk he saw red when the officers said they could not take immediate action.

He added: "I was in a lot of pain, I was drunk and I was abusive. My jaw had been broken in three places and I had to be sent to a specialist ward in Oxford where I had to have my jaw wired."

He said he had visited the police officers involved and apologised to them for his behaviour and this was taken into account when magistrates gave him an absolute discharge.
