No, Mr Hamilton. Animals, Vegetables and Minerals are not just “resources to be used by man”.
It is such ignorant thinking that has led to the extinction of so many species, animal & vegetable, as well as to the mindless destruction of so much of this world.
Human beings are merely a small part of nature, and it is high time they learned to co-exist better with the other inhabitants of this world.
I enclose a diagram from Teilhard de Chardin's book, “The Phenomenon of Man”, which illustrates the relative position of humankind within the whole of the natural world.
On this diagram humans are included with the other primates. As for the pro-hunting lobby, if their development is so retarded that they feel that they must go on hunting let them.
But instead of chasing foxes, deer, or any other wild animal, they should vote one of their own age group to be the quarry and chase that person.
After all there is a greater problem of an ever-increasing growth in the population of humans, than of foxes or deer.
