Kimberley Honey struck gold at the Re- gional Individual
Apparatus Champ-ionship held at Heathrow.
The 12-year-old gymnast from the Europa Club, in Erith, won both floor and beam disciplines with a display which mirrored her success at the Bexley Champ-ionships in May.
Next month, the Townley Grammar schoolgirl will be competing in the National Challenge at Bracknell Sports Centre, in the women's artistic section.
Coach Len Arnold said: “The floor and the beam were two strong pieces for Kimberley. Over the last year she has got more confident in her ability and has done well.
“The beam is a hard discipline and it can be a lonely place up there. To balance on just four inches, you can't afford to be nervous and have your knees knocking.
“Unless you're confident and gutsy, you're nothing
because it is very difficult.
“Kimberley's going for the Elite Grade next year and she has a good chance of making the national squad.”
