A NEW county-wide organisation for business women is being set up.

The Hertfordshire Evolutionary Resource of Soroptimists (Hers) will provide a forum for professional and business women to gather and talk, to network to find a job, find support, to establish a project to work on, or to help find someone to contribute to a particular venture or task.

Five committee members were brought together last summer, following the Women of Achievement awards gala.

Chairman Ms Irene McLaughlin said: "The general consensus of opinion was we could all help women in the community achieve more than just breaking through the glass ceiling, but also with juggling career and family pressures, which affect modern day women. This is a place where we can help women work smarter not harder."

Ms McLaughlin, a successful company director, said: "We will be very specific in asking questions such as 'tell us what you need to help solve your professional business issues'. If you don't pose questions, you end up with a club which does not provide the valuable answers all of us need in business.

"The amazing thing we have found, is the minute you show weaknesses and express your fears, there is an amazing response from people who want to help."

The launch has been set for Thursday, April 26, and it will be followed by a series of monthly meetings. For more details, visit the website at: www.hers.org.uk or e-mail herscoordinator@aol.co.uk.
