Silsden rider Dougie Lampkin won the Clash of the Titans against Graham Jarvis to win his second Scott Trial.
Lampkin's first success in the Richmond Motor Club-organised event came back in 1994 before he went on to win seven world titles.
His victory meant Jarvis failed to land a record eighth Scott success in what is regarded as the toughest one-day trial in the world.
Conditions in Arkengarthdale near Richmond for the 70-mile test were superb.
Jarvis left the start at Feldom Range just four minutes and 40 seconds clear of Lampkin, who closed the gap to exactly one minute as the two riders left Whaw Bridge sections almost within sight of each other.
Jarvis's challenge ended at Windegg where he missed one vital turn and another even more vital section. The penalty for missing one section is automatic exclusion.
Aware of what had happened, Lampkin slackened his pace to track Jarvis over the line by just under two minutes, knowing full well that victory was his.
Wayne Braybrook was a brilliant runner-up ahead of Cookridge European Champion James Dabill and East Keswick's Ben Hemingway.
Haworth's Dan Clark was heading for a podium finish when his six-speed gearbox locked into it's highest gear after the fourth checkpoint.
- Teenager Ross Crosby, from Trawden, was too good for Anthony Ayrton at the Bradford DMC trial at Cowling Crag. Top of the clubmen was Graham Abbey.
