Famous deceased Haringey residents are to be celebrated with plaques on buildings in which they once lived.
There are already a few English Heritage plaques dotted around the borough, but John Hajdu, chairman of the Muswell Hill & Fortis Green Association, has been working with the Hornsey Historical Society; the Bruce Castle Museum, in Lordship Lane, Tottenham; and Haringey Council to have some council plaques put up.
Mr Hajdu, who came up with the idea, said: "There are already about half a dozen plaques but I wanted to have more put up because so many famous people have lived here down the years.
"We've drawn up a list of 30 names and given it to the council. I don't think the council will do all 30, it depends on what budget's available. I would like to think we'll get the council's approval in January and see the first ones go up in March, the first, hopefully, in Muswell Hill."
Among the people on the 30-strong list are novelist Arnold Bennett; Colin Chapman, founder of Lotus cars; and comedian Tony Hancock.
