Anyone looking for a taste of countryside living in London can visit the Hampstead Garden Suburb Horticultural Society's flower show this weekend.

The firmly established event boasts home-made teas, bulbs for sale, and a number of different classes to judge for adults and children - including smallest, largest, or just the weirdest vegetable, fruit or flower.

There is entertainment aimed at children of all age groups, with opportunities to make leaf collages, bake Mr Men biscuits and chocolate desserts and design Halloween masks.

Marjorie Harris, of the Horticultural Society, says: "The flower show appeals to everybody.

"When you walk in the smell of the flowers is quite overwhelming. We like to think we're keeping alive some of the old countryside crafts."

The flower show will take place at the Free Church Hall, in Central Square, Hampstead Garden Suburb, on Saturday, September 13th, from 3pm to 5.30pm.
