Eno wins thriller soundtrack Bafta

Former Roxy Music star Brian Eno has won his first Bafta for his soundtrack to a gritty gang thriller.

The musician, best known as a pioneer of ambient music, won the gong for his work on Channel 4's Top Boy.

There were also wins for Great Expectations, Sherlock and Frozen Planet which all picked up three awards at the event which recognises behind the scenes talent.

Frozen Planet, which was hit by controversy after it emerged footage of newborn polar bear cubs was filmed in an animal park, won awards for Editing: Factual, Photography: Factual and Sound: Factual.

The backroom teams behind successes including Channel 4's Educating Essex, BBC2's The Shadowline and the X Factor final on ITV1 were also recognised.

The event - formally known as the British Academy Television Craft Awards, were held at the Brewery in London.

There were also awards for Jacqueline Fowler's work in make-up and hair design on The Crimson Petal And The White and recognition for costume designer Charlotte Walter who worked on the World War One drama Birdsong.

Actor Adrian Dunbar presented the Special Award to colourist Aidan Farrell.

Farrell, who has worked on shows including Wallander and Downton Abbey, said: "I have always strived to make images and pictures come alive and evolve my style in the way that artists and photographers do."
