SPURS TALK: Tottenham knocked back in bid to sign Russian forward

4:06pm Friday 4th July 2008

TOTTENHAM have reportedly had an offer of £10million rejected by Spartak Moscow for Russian hotshot Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The striker finished joint runner-up to Spain's David Villa in the scoring charts for Euro 2008 and has attracted a lot of attention from clubs around Europe after a number of impressive displays for his country.

Spurs are known to be on the lookout for a big-name forward, after missing out on Samuel Eto'o and Villa, and reports on thisislondon.co.uk suggest they have turned their attention to the 26-year-old.

Spartak general director Sergei Shavlo admitted the club had received an offer from an English team, widely believed to be Tottenham.

"We have received two offers. One of them is from an English team," said Shavlo.

"Since it's not a team playing in European Champions League we are more likely than not to reject their offer."
