Mayor calls for support for poppy appeal Mayor calls for support for poppy appeal

The Mayor has given his support to Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal which launched this week.

Councillor David Browne, Mayor of Haringey is calling for people of the borough to wear poppies with pride this autumn.

The poppy appeal was official launched yesterday and will run to Monday November 12.

Poppies and appeal boxes will be available at each of the borough's nine libraries and the desk at the Haringey Civic Centre, in High Road, Wood Green.

Councillor Browne said: “With service men and women still giving their lives in Afghanistan and elsewhere, wearing a poppy has never been more relevant.

“It is a small way in which we can all honour the memory of those who have given their lives in service to their country.

"I hope Haringey residents will join me in paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
