Stroke survivors marked an international day of action to challenge myths surrounding strokes with a visit to a London university.

Tess Lancashire and Joanna Barnes from Haringey attended the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London yesterday to meet with the language team.

The team met with other stroke survivors to highlight the work the research team do to help those who experience language difficulties as a result of their stroke.

So far hundreds of people who have suffered a stroke have volunteered as part of the team’s research which aims to help language recovery among stoke survivors.

Ms Lancashire said: “I took part in research because think it’s important to find out about recovery of language after stroke.

“Today was a great opportunity to network with stroke survivors and professionals working in the field.”
