A block of flats left without hot water is still waiting for the problem to be fixed by a housing association.

People living in St Paul’s House, in Park Lane, Tottenham, operated by Metropolitan Housing, have been left without hot water since the end of September and have complained on numerous occasions.

A previously reported, people living in some of the flats felt the housing association was not doing enough to sort the issue after the building had the same problem last year.

Kevin Sukhdeo, 39, who lives in the block with his grandmother said: “This is turning into a bit of a farce now.

“Metropolitan have known about the hot water problem for a long time and should have sorted it before. They have had so many people in to try and sort it out but we still don’t have any hot water.”

Emanuel Annamy, 66, who also lives in the block said: “We are not happy at all with Metropolitan. This happened last year and now it has happened again.

“It is getting colder outside now and we are worried about getting ill because we have no hot water.

“This isn’t something we should have to worry about. We should have hot water.”

As previously reported in The Haringey Independent this is not the first time the building of 39 flats has had trouble with hot water after people living homes raised concerns in February about problems.

Two weeks ago a spokeswoman for Metropolitan said the issue had been passed to a specialist contractor and hot water should be working again.

However since then residents have been told the work is still underway and it will take longer to get the hot water up and running.

A spokeswoman for Metropolitan said: “We apologise that the hot water at St Pauls is still not working properly due to major limescale build up with the communal system.

“Our specialist contractor attempted to carry out a chemical upscaling of the hot water cylinder last week, however, the extent of the limescale meant the system could not be fully drained and therefore the work could not be carried out.”

They added the contractor is now having to wait for specialist parts and they hope to get the hot water system fully working as soon as possible.
