Street charity fundraisers in Haringey face tougher restrictions
Charity fundraisers who hit the streets of town centres around the borough will soon face tougher restrictions.
Haringey Borough Council has announced it will be signing up with the Public Fundraising Regulatory Authority to make sure fundraisers, called chuggers, do not become a nuisance.
The new rules will mean chuggers will not be allowed to follow someone for more than three steps and stand within three meters of a shop doorway, cashpoint, pedestrian crossing or station entrance.
The council hope the new rules will mean people will be able to go to the shops without being ambushed by sometimes forceful fundraisers.
