Mental health charity calls for runners to take part in half marathon
1:06pm Thursday 3rd January 2013 in News By Bruce Thain
A mental health charity is calling on people to lace up their running shoes for a half marathon through London's parks to help raise money.
Mind in Haringey has 20 places for the Royal Park's Foundation Half Marathon following the success of last year’s event.
After the festive season Mind is looking for people wanting to get healthy as part of their New Year’s resolution and help raise money to help pay for the charity’s work in the borough.
The marathon takes a 13.1 mile route through four of London’s Royal Parks including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, St James’s Park and Green Park in October.
Last year the charity took part in the event for the first time with five staff members taking on the challenge raising nearly £1,300.
Mind, based in Stapleton Hall Road, Crouch End, offers support to more than 54,000 people in Haringey who have mental health issues.
Those interested in taking part in the marathon can sign up now by calling Mind in Haringey on 020 8340 2474.
