Hopes that St Mary's C of E Primary School will benefit pupils

A new primary school was created today after the council decided to close a junior school and expand the age range of its sister infant school.
Haringey Borough Council agreed plans to close St Mary’s Church of England Junior School, in Rectory Gardens, Hornsey and extend the age range of St Mary’s C of E Infant school in Church Lane.
This will create a single school called St Mary’s CE Primary School with an age range from nursery to Year 6, which the authority hopes will benefit pupils.
The decision comes after the junior school was put into special measures by Ofsted in 2011 whereas the infant school was rated outstanding.
Both sites will remain in use and it is hoped the two schools joining together will give parents and pupils consistency.
