London to Paris bike ride to raise money for North London Hospice

The North London Hospice is encouraging cyclists to sign up for its fundraising bike ride from London to Paris this summer.

The Sunflower Cycle, which is run by charity event organisers Skyline, is taking place from July 3 to July 7.

Riders will leave Crystal Palace early on July 3 before heading through Kent and northern France en route to Paris.

The route will take in sights including First World War battle fields, historic towns, Gothic churches and the River Seine.

The cyclists will cover a distance of almost 500km during the four-day ride.

Each rider is required to raise a minimum of £1,450 for the hospice which provides end-of-life care for the people of Barnet, Haringey and Enfield.

The hospice, which is based in North Finchley, provides all of its services free of charge but only 23 per cent of its costs are met by the NHS, so it has to raise £4.6 million each year.
