MP Lynne Featherstone visits Wood Green charity shop for launch of international campaign

The MP for Hornsey and Wood Green paid a visit to a charity shop today to mark the launch of a international campaign.

Lynne Featherstone visited the Wood Green branch of Oxfam talk to staff and pupils from a St Michael's Primary School, in Bounds Green Road, about her role as a minister for international development.

The event also marked the launch of the charity’s new GROW campaign, which will support investment in small scale agriculture and land rights in developing countries.

She said: “I think it’s really important young people understand what is going on around world so it’s great to see school children here.

“In Haringey there are a lot of issues with poverty, health and education which are similar problems which are seen round the world in developing countries.”

The MP also talked about her recent trip to Zambia as part of her ministerial work and how the UK was helping development in Africa.

Graduate Katrina Gajevska, of Sydney Road, Wood Green, organised the event after she found there was no Oxfam campaign group in the area.

I wouldn't wear second-hand clothes myself, unless I knew who had been wearing them.
