Royal Mail office for Finsbury Park and South Tottenham to close this month

A date for the closure and relocation of Royal Mail sorting offices has been announced.

Two delivery offices in Finsbury Park and South Tottenham, in the Arena Shopping Centre, Harringay, will be closed and services will operate from a new site from January 28.

The site, called the North London Delivery Centre, Station Road, in Upper Holloway, and will serve people in the N4 and N15 postcode areas.

Royal Mail announced the move in September last year, which is part of a modernisation process of London services.

The company says the changes have come about due to a continuing fall in mail volumes and the move will improve efficiency in the area.

People who live in the N4 Finsbury Park area will now have to collect their undelivered mail items from the new delivery centre in Upper Holloway.

Steve Molloy, director for north London for Royal Mail, said the company would do everything it could to minimise disruption during the relocation process.

Last year Royal Mail also announced plans to close the Hornsey delivery office in Tottenham Lane, which will also have its services moved to the Upper Holloway site.

Of course, in my day we had 4 deliveries before breakfast. And stamps were only a penny.
