Cold weather affects rubbish collections in Haringey

Cold weather affects rubbish collections Cold weather affects rubbish collections

Snow and ice on the borough's roads has delayed waste and recycling collections.

Haringey Borough Council and its waste collection contractors have said rubbish and recycling collections are likely to be one day behind due to icy pavements and side streets.

Crews will be out gathering peoples waste until schedules are resumed, with possible extra collections on Saturday.

The council also says if people's rubbish has been missed this week there will be a double collection next week.

Everyone understands snow can be disruptive. But in South Tottenham we have had no recycling for almost a fortnight and no waste rubbish collection for nearly THREE weeks.

Haringey Veolia says recycling was cancelled last week to "focus on refuse collections". Not so great for food waste, but in the event haven't done either collection!

The picture varied across the borough, but in Tottenham roads were passable on Monday and totally clear by Tuesday last week. How did this mean Veolia failed to carry out collections the following Thursday?
