Haringey leisure centres scrap joining fees until the end of January

Haringey’s leisure centres are giving people a helping hand in keeping fit by scrapping joining fees until the end of January.

Fusion Lifestyle, which took over management of the borough’s four leisure centres last month, is also offering no minimum contract to those who sign up by January 31.

Becoming a member means access to gyms, swimming pools and sports facilities for £32 a month.

Discounts of more than 50 per cent are available for pensioners and those on low incomes and fitness fanatics can benefit from 12 months' membership for the price of ten if they pay up front.

Since Fusion Lifestyle took over the management of the gyms the company has been gearing up for a huge programme of refurbishment.

Improvements will include new studios, an overhaul of the changing area, gym expansions and the upgrading of the Park Road Lido.

Councillor Richard Watson, cabinet member for communities, said: “Our leisure centres will undergo a huge programme of investment that will modernise our gyms and swimming pools, making them fit for the people of Haringey.

“This offer is a great chance for residents to join so they can enjoy the refurbished facilities when completed.”

Under the new arrangements, Fusion will be running Park Road and Tottenham Green Leisure Centres, as well as Broadwater Farm Community Centre, on a 20-year contract.

It will also look after White Hart Lane Leisure Centre for the next three years.
