An MP has welcomed the work by a gas company helping homes stay warm during the winter as part of a national scheme.

The Warm Homes Discount, run by the Government and energy companies, has helped 1,064 homes in Wood Green and Hornsey get up to £120 discount on their energy bills.

MP Lynne Featherstone has welcomed the work being done in her borough after advising a number of her constituents about the best option to keep their bills down.

She said: “During these bitterly cold periods, it is very encouraging to see British Gas taking action to ensure that vulnerable people keep warm.

She added: “No-one should ever feel they can’t turn their heating on because they cannot afford it. If any constituent finds themselves in this situation I strongly encourage them to use the numbers provided.”
