Energy efficiency scheme for Haringey homes gets cash boost

A project to make homes more energy efficient has been given a cash boost with £275,000 of government money.

Haringey Borough Council will get the money from Department of Energy and Climate Change to offer residents free energy efficiency assessments.

People in the borough will be able to find out how improvements could be made to homes or other premises by insulating, adding double glazing or other measures such as replacing an old boiler.

If there are any areas where improvements can be made, people will be able to apply to a loan to help pay for the work.

It is hoped any savings made in energy costs will offset the price of loan repayments.
