Members of St Peter in Chains Church Crouch End make DVD of hymn singing for fellow member
A congregation has joined together to create a video for one of their fellow worshippers.
Members of St Peter in Chains Roman Catholic Church, in Womersley Road, Crouch End, have created the DVD for music lover Richard Halliday.
Mr Halliday, who has learning difficulties, is a big fan of hymns and asked for a recording of the church's singing.
The congregation decided to go a step further and created a 30-minute film for his 25th birthday.
His mother Mary said: “It’s absolutely lovely and the way the whole church has come together has been wonderful.
“Richard has always loved the hymns sung at the church and all he wanted was a CD of the singing. To have a DVD of the church singing is lovely.
“We have been members of the church for 15 years and it is really important to Richard because they are really inclusive with all the activities they do. He is always helping with different projects.”
The whole DVD was made by members of the congregation voluntarily, with the help from BBC cameraman Gordon Hickie and film maker Walter Stabb.
Sue Hessel, who runs the Family Mass choir, said: "This is the ultimate feel good film. It is beautifully photographed and the music is fantastic.
“Because it was made for Richard everyone just wanted to do their best - it has been our privilege to produce this for him.
“We hope it will also raise awareness and compassion for people with learning disabilities everywhere."
Money raised from the sales of the DVD will go towards the refurbishment of parish rooms at the church.
