Land purchase discussed by Haringey Borough Council for Spurs stadium development

Stadium development moves forward with council land buy
Plans for the council to buy land for Spurs stadium development were discussed at a meeting last night.
Members of Haringey Borough Council cabinet discussed the plans to buy land for the arena as part of the Northumberland Park development and sell it back to Tottenham Hotspur as part of plans agreed in 2011.
The process will mean the project will not be held up by any people living near the stadium with right to light claims.
Instead of taking an injunction people will be able to claim compensation and not hold up the building of the stadium which the council considers vital to the redevelopment of Tottenham.
Press and public were exempt from the decision at the meeting of the cabinet last night for commercial reasons surrounding the deal.

That Haringey Council are going to use its legal power and public money to buy land so that it removes people's rights to light. And then sells the land on to Spurs?
A sort of interest free loan with public money to a rich football club ?
And the key parts of this discussion were held in secret?
Surely Haringey Council would never behave like this?
