Spurs fans attacked in Lyon pub night before Europa League tie

Tottenham Hotspur fans were attacked in a pub in Lyon last night ahead of this evening's Europa League match.

Up to 150 Spurs fans were drinking in the Smoking Dog pub when they were attacked at just before 10:20pm on Wednesday evening.

Three fans have been taken to hospital, one with a head injury, after they were attacked by a group of between 20 and 25 masked men.

Witnesses at the scene have said some attackers were making Nazi salutes and smashed the doors of the premises, threw chairs and other objects into the bar.

It has also been reported a flare was thrown into the bar, before the group left only to return for a second attack.

This is the second time Tottenham fans have been targeted in an apparent anti-Semitic attack after fans were ambushed in Rome in November last year where one supporter was stabbed and required surgery.
