£20,000 on offer from the Mayor of London for student's green business ideas

Students could win up to £20,000 from the Mayor of London for their green business ideas to help reduce the capital’s carbon emissions.

Boris Johnson has launched the 2013 Low Carbon Prize, in which students can win the money to invest in their ideas.

The competition is open to students in further and higher education in Haringey to come up with ideas to reduce the carbon emissions of the capital’s buildings, transport and energy infrastructure.

The winner of last year’s prize was Arthur Kay, whose idea to turn coffee grounds into biofuel will go into production later this year under the company name Bio-Bean Ltd.

The deadline for entries is May 17 and those interested can enter by clicking here.
