Media charity launches Apprentice style business project
A media charity will be giving young people the chance to gain experience of the business world as part of a new project.
Haringey-based youth media group Exposure will be looking to find the next big business idea from young people as part its new project called North London Apprentice.
The programme will involve workshops to help teenagers from across north London develop their business ideas before taking their pitch to a corporate boardroom.
Organisers also hope to offer businesses the chance to communicate with the youth market.
Exposure’s manager Andreas Koumi said: “This isn’t about asking business for pro bono support or charitable hand-outs but convincing them there is an untapped voice that can help them communicate more effectively with a valuable section of the market.
“Banks, insurance companies and media agencies need to talk to young people and we can help.”
The programme, which has been funded by The Co-operative’s Community Fund, is on offer all young people in the borough.
Exposure’s business development specialist Stephen Gardiner said: “We’ll have succeeded enough if we manage to get young people into the unknown and hostile environment of corporate boardrooms, talking passionately and eloquently about what they can offer. The icing on the cake will be when we win some business.”
