Fire breaks out in flat in Sandra Close in Wood Green

People were evacuated from their homes on Saturday after a fire broke out in a Wood Green flat.

Police woke people sleeping in the block of flats in Sandra Close, off The Roundway, at around 7.45am after several people alerted the fire brigade.

A person living in the affected flat escaped without injury before the fire brigade arrived. Second and third floor flats were also damaged in the blaze.

Many of the people living in the flats were still dressed in their nightclothes as they watched ten firefighters from Tottenham fire stations spend an hour tackling the blaze.

Paramedics were called to the scene as a precaution, but nobody needed treatement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
