Haringey Borough Council uploads CCTV footage to combat parking appeals
11:42am Tuesday 26th February 2013 in News By Hermione Wright
Video footage of people committing parking offences will be posted online to combat the amount of appeals.
The online scheme, launched by Haringey Borough Council's parking service, will allow motorists to view CCTV footage of their alleged offence once they have received a penalty charge notice in the post.
Previously, drivers have been able to view photos of the offence.
Councillor Nilgun Canver, cabinet member for the environment, said: "I hope that by enabling people to see their contravention online drivers will understand exactly why they have been given a ticket, and we will have fewer appeals.
“We hope that once drivers are able to view what they have done to warrant a penalty, they will think twice before doing it again."
