She'd already won the medal, but receiving her MBE from the Queen made Olympic champion Nicola Adams more nervous than facing her opponent in the fight that secured her gold at London 2012..

Adams, who trains at Haringey Police Community Club in Tottenham, made history last year by becoming the first woman to win an Olympic boxing gold medal.

The 30-year-old told reporters after meeting the Queen at Buckingham Palace she was more nervous than she had been before her medal-winning fight.

The boxing star joined Olympians Jessica Ennis, cyclist Joanna Rowsell and long jumper Greg Rutherford in collecting honours from the palace.

The flyweight was told at the end of last year she would receive the MBE following her stunning performance during the Olympic games.

Adams, who is originally from Leeds, moved to the city four years ago to train at the Tottenham club because of its reputation for training female boxers.

The Queen should have felt nervous meeting the lovely Nicola Adams.
