Toddler left on bus by Haringey Borough Council foster carer
9:27am Thursday 7th March 2013 in News By Bruce Thain
An investigation has been launched after a foster carer left a toddler on a bus.
The two-year-old, who was being cared for by a Haringey Borough Council foster carer, was left in a pushchair on the 491 bus in Enfield.
The alarm was raised after a passenger noticed the child was left alone when the carer got off the bus without the pushchair on Friday March 1.
A council spokesman said: “An incident took place last week in which a carer left a child unattended. The child was found safe and well and we are undertaking a full investigation.
“As soon as this incident came to light, steps were immediately taken to arrange a new fostering placement for the child.”
It is believed the carer later contacted the emergency services.
The Metropolitan Police say the child was checked over at hospital before being handed back to social services.
A spokesman said: "Inquiries are ongoing. There have been no arrests. Social services are investigating the matter in partnership with the MPS Child Abuse Investigation Command."
