The sister of a man stabbed to death after a party says her family is "devastated".

Ibrahim Ali, 20, was stabbed in Stamford Close near Broad Lane, Tottenham, after a party on Sunday morning.

Police were called to the scene just before 5am and Mr Ali was pronounced dead after arriving at hospital.

His older sister Fadumo spoke to the Haringey Independent about the family’s loss.

The 21-year-old said: “It is just devastating. My mother is so heartbroken and when we found out we broke down.

“Our home just feels so empty, like something is missing. We’re just so upset. When I wake up I think it’s all a nightmare, but then I see the messages and realise it’s all true.

“I know he was good person and he was very kind hearted and would always stick up for his friends.

“He was really looking forward to the future and finding a job. He had just passed his driving theory test and was excited about bringing money in to help our mother. He had a lot of hope.”

The family of three came to the UK in 2002 to escape the violence of Somalia, and, as a boy Mr Ali went to Seven Sisters primary school and Park View Academy in West Green Road, Tottenham.

Ms Ali added: “We came to this country because we wanted to get away from violence and be peaceful and build our lives."

In response to her brother's death Ms Ali and her close friend have set up a JustGiving page to raise money for the charity Islamic Relief.

She said: “What we want to do is turn this tragedy into a positive and make sure some good will come out of it.

“We also want to make sure Ibrahim’s story gets out there so young people can learn from this. We don’t want to see more people hurt in this way.”

So far more than £600 has been raised for the charity.

Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder as police continue to investigate.
